GORILLA WINCH OFFERS 6 MONTH HASSLE FREE

Check out the link below.
I've read alot good things about the Gorilla Winch. I have not actually owned one, but several owners have posted pretty good feedback about them on several atv forums.
What really stood out for me is their warranty. Totally the opposite of the crap from xtreme (junk) winch.
REMEMBER, XTREME WINCH HAS NO WARRANTY-READ THEIR FINE PRINT!!!!

Gorilla offers a "Hassle Free" 6 Month Warranty!

Xtreme Winch = Xtreme Junk

Here's the latest. Just had 8" + snowfall . Used my H.F. winch on my snowplow & it worked great. This thing cost me $49.00 & I have a 2 1/2 year , full replacement warranty. Looks like I won't need the warranty, but just in case, it's there.
No comparison to that piece of crap Xtreme Winch I got ripped off on.
When I contacted Xtreme Recovery (see e-mails below) for my warranty service they stated "Oh we get this alot this time of year" , well Duh, wonder why they don't get snow related calls in July. They stated the destruction of their junk winch was caused by "cable slack".
My nice little H.F. winch has a retainer tab that keeps the cable on the spool.
It also has a much more powerful motor than the xtreme junk winch.

Just for reference, My driveway is asphalt, a little over 300 yards long, and is on a very steep hill. Plowing this drive is no small task.

Just a final reminder, Don't get scammed by Xtreme Recovery / Xtreme Winch on Ebay. Another known name they use is PowerSource LLC

What happens when you contact Xtreme Recovery for Warranty

Here are the actual e-mails between myself and Xtreme Winch trying to send my unit in for warranty. These are the actual thing- cut & paste from my email to here.

Now imagine yourself buying something from these jerks and your trying to get it repaired.

COPIES OF ACTUAL EMAILS BELOW:

MY 1ST EMAIL XTREME WINCH:
Hello,
I purchased an xtreme winch from you and i need warranty repair. Your site refers me to xtremewinch.com.
They have no service or warranty information. Simply says call your seller (you).
The following information is from Pay-pal. Before i file a security claim with pay-pal, I wanted to try to contact you.

THEIR 1ST RESPONSE TO ME:
Please let us know what your issue is so we can assist you. Thanks !!!Xtreme Recovery

MY 2ND RESPONSE TO XTREME WINCH:

Thank you for your prompt reply.
I purchased a winch package on 8-27-07 through ebay. I used it a couple of times after installing it and it seemed to work fine. I used it over the weekend hooked to lift my atv plow. After a few minutes I noticed it was not working. I removed it today to see if I could fix it. When I took it apart, the plastic bushings are crushed & broken. There is also metal from the stripping of the gears.
I would like to return it for repair, but need the return information and an RMA Number.

I went to the sellers web site & could not find any return info, nor a contact phone number. Warranty referred me to xtremewinch.com, but there is no warranty or return info listed there.
Finally I checked my pay-pal account and they gave me this email address.

Can you please let me know how to return this for repair?

Thank you

THEIR 2ND RESPONSE TO ME:
We are happy to assist you with your issue however the manufacturer willnot cover plow damage. You gears were stripped when you exceeded thelift height on your plow. When this happens the plow frame reaches theframe of your ATV and stops, when you continue to activate the wincheither the plow frame needs to be fulled through the frame of the ATVwhich is nearly impossible or your winch will strip. In your case thewinch stripped. The winch is dependant on the operator to stop it. Ifnot it can exceed it's limitations and tear itself apart. When lifting your plow it is very important to stop the blade wellbefore the push frame exceeds it's lift height. The damage you explainis commonly seen this time of year with any brand of winch and is aproduct of the operation of the plow and not a defect with the winch. We can assist you with the parts you need to fix your winch and canemail you an invoice if you let us know what the parts are. We do notmake money on parts and carry them as a service to our customers. They are always available at www.xtremewinch.com or as noted just let usknow what you need by part number. Thanks !!!Xtreme Recovery

MY 3RD RESPONSE TO XTREME:
What actually happened is the cable fed in between the spool and the plastic side of the winch housing located on the "free spool lever" side of the winch. Of course it bound up and pushed the winch mechanisms apart. The gears were now only partially engaged and ground off the outer edges of the gears. The larger plastic bushing located near the "free spool" side was smashed & ruined. I found the remnants of what looked like a small plastic bushing on the opposite side when I took it apart. You can tell it was once a bushing, but barely. Since the cable bound between the plastic housing, it of course split it and pushed it out of shape.

I can only see three ways this could have been prevented: 1. Do not use the winch. 2. Have someone walk along side and watch the cable feed in & out and if they see it start to feed in between the housing, yell at the operator to stop! ,or 3. Had the winch been properly manufactured or assembled, the cable could not feed into the space and allow it destroy the winch.

So rather than "operator error", I believe it was a "manufacturing / assembly defect".
So the question becomes, Is it a warranty repair or not.

THEIR 3RD RESPONSE TO ME:

The tolerance between the spool and spool support is not really theissue. Obviously with thousands of pounds of pressure if allowed to doso the cable would force it's way through the smallest of gaps of tearthe winch apart until it made it's own path if necessary. This is whyit is recommended in your manual to keep tension on the spool.Slack cable is the cause of the cable wedging and not the design of thewinch. The winch design is very standard in the industry. To avoid thedamage you explain many people will reduce the length of their cable. Ten feet is a common length for plowing and the removal of 30 ft ofcable from your spool gives you a much greater margin of error when itcomes to lowering your blade.Cable management is the responsibility of the operator. Themanufacturer cannot manage your cable for you and we are unaware of anydesign on the market under these types of pressure which will monitoryour cable for you.We are more than happy to assist you with any parts you may need at costto get you rolling but we cannot warranty any parts with this type ofdamage. Winch manufacturers look for cable and spool support scrapingto signify a wedged cable or cable stacking which they do not cover. We appreciate your business and we are here to assist you and understandyour frustration. We do not however agree with your assertions that thecause of the damage created by cable slack is our responsibility or theresponsibility of the manufacturer. If you know the part numbers youneed let us know and we will work out a solution for you at our cost. Thanks !!!Xtreme Recovery

MY FINAL RESPONSE TO XTREME;

Love your Product. Love your customer service. Really love your warranty. If I were a moron.
You guys & your product suck.
I realized when I couldn't find a way to call you, write you, or any warranty info, I was screwed.
Try honestly posting some of the "not covered" statements you've sent me on your web site & see if it affects your sales.
A really good spot would be where it says SERVICE. Instead of saying "coming soon" when you click it, it could say "In your Dreams".

I went to Harbor freight yesterday and bought a winch from them. $49.99 + tax. It comes with a 3 month warranty. For $5.99 I extended the warranty an additional 2 years.

This nice little winch has a 1.5 hp motor vs the 1.1 hp I got from you. It also has a spring metal shroud that keeps the cable on the spool. Wow, what revelation! Did I say it was $49.99?

The warranty covers "Everything". If something it is broken, they replace it.
Shoot, I couldn't ship your box of junk back to you for that price.

I am usually pretty good at researching a product before I buy it but I must admit I got sucked in by all your false statements. I have since gone back and reviewed your negative feedback on ebay and guess what every one says. Product - Junk, Warranty - A worthless Joke.

THEIR FINAL RESPONSE TO ME:
We have made every effort to assist you with your winch. We facilitatethe warranty as does any retailer. We do not have any influence on themanufacturers warranty. We are familiar with the Harbor Freightwarranty and you will have a difficult time warrantying anything. The warranty offered by Xtreme is the same as the Warn and Ramseyproduct we sell and they actuallare easier to work with. We simplycannot warranty items which are damaged by the operator. Per youremails the winch was damaged by cable slack. This is not covered by anywinch manufacturer. We have tried and they do not allow it.If you change your mind and would like us to assist you with part let usknow. We have offered to do all we can and more than any company wouldfor you. If that is unacceptable then it looks like we nor themanufacturer can meet your needs.Best wishes. Thanks !!!

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you guys know that you can't go back on Ebay to add follow up feedback after a purchase?

The reason I mention this is, the feedback you are reading is just whether or not they got the product they ordered and how quickly they got it.

It's been about 4 months since I purchased this piece of crap from xtremerecovery on ebay. By the time it broke (after 3rd use) I can't go back on the feedback forum on ebay to warn people.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those people that expects things to never break, or to last forever. I do however, expect a company to honor their warranties. There should be a law that makes them state up front that the warranty is just " WE WILL SELL YOU PARTS TO FIX IT YOURSELF!"
